revolutionCongressman Ron Paul’s The Revolution: A Manifesto is the most important political book I’ve read in many years.

Ron Paul has received more airtime in the last couple of months than he did during his run for President in 2008. Why? Because Obama’s economic policies are incredibly destructive to America. And Ron Paul is, arguably, the most vocal critic of Obama’s course of action. So, naturally, every major media has interviewed him to ask why. Check YouTube. Or Google Ron Paul. The man is everywhere.

Ron Paul continues to be the most straight-shooting person in Congress, frequently rising to speak, and — without mincing words — telling everyone why spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave is a bad idea, why raising taxes is a bad idea, why embroiling ourselves in foreign countries is a bad idea, why the Federal Reserve ought to be abolished, and why we will not see “change” in Washington despite the high-profile promises to the contrary. I often wonder what would have happened had Ron Paul been giving the same respect from the media last year. Would he now be in the White House instead of the most radical-left President in history? Perhaps.

But what’s done is done. Time to move forward.

Amazon readers (nearly 800 of them to date!) have given Ron Paul’s book a five-star rating.

And rightly so. For the money, there isn’t a more lucid, fact-based, honest book on politics you can buy. Yet, for all of its information (and this book packs information on each page like Bumblebee packs sardines in a can), The Revolution: A Manifesto is extremely easy to read. In other words, no Ph.D. required.

Because I love to read no matter where I am, I bought the audiobook version in addition to the hardcover version.

A word of warning: If you listen to The Revolution: A Manifesto in the car, you’re liable to be distracted by Dr. Paul’s crystal-clear presentation, his grasp of economics, his knowledge of our Constitution, and what it means to have a republic form of government. You’re likely to be so engrossed in what the narrator is saying that you’ll sideswipe a parked card. So keep your eyes on the road!

Although Dr. Paul is a Republican, he is an Independent. In other words, he has no love for the Republican party. So if you think all you’ll get from The Revolution: A Manifesto is mindless praise for the Bush administration, you’re in for a refreshing surprise. Ron Paul is every bit as critical of the last eight years as he is of the current 100 days.

Bottom line: Want to know why our system of government is broken and, more importantly, how to fix it?

You can thank the good doctor for his prescription for societal wellness.
