When the media isn’t portraying Obama as the next FDR — which he is — or the next Washington — which he most definitely is not — or the next Messiah — ditto — they often liken him to Abraham Lincoln.
However, I’m pretty sure Obama never read this quote from Lincoln. Because if he had, he economic policies wouldn’t be 180 degrees contrary to it.
Read it.
Then ask yourself, “How did we stray so far as a nation?”

UPDATE: I was just informed that this pithy statement was not penned by Lincoln. Actually, if this web site can be believed, it was written in 1916 by the Rev. William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian clergyman and pamphlet writer. Okay. So Lincoln didn’t write it. That doesn’t make it any less powerful — or true.
It doesn’t matter who wrote the quote, because the truth of it speaks for itself. As for Obama being another Lincoln…
Lincoln had one of the most difficult presidencies in U.S. history. Not only did he have to prosecute a war of brother against brother to keep the Union in one piece, he also freed the slaves at a time when racism was institutional and people who helped free slaves were frequently tortured and killed. Lincoln was killed for his moral stands.
Now we have Obama. Will he keep the nation from splitting apart? Considering the fact that he and the Democratic Party have been working overtime to fan the flames of class warfare, it seems highly unlikely.
Who will he free? Not the wage-payers, as he is jumping their taxes by 20% or more–in his FIRST tax increase. Not the middle class, because he is supporting the so-called “card-check” bill, which will have the effect of forcing people to join unions whether they want to or not. Certainly not the poor, since they will be required to toe the Party line in order to receive their government hand outs.
What moral stand has Obama taken? Oh, that’s right. I forgot. He’s a patron of the Holy Church of Globalwarming and will help our economic infrastructure to crumble and destroy any chance of a speedy recovery–so that a pseudoscience can become more pervasive than the largest religion and dominate and control every action of individuals within the subscribing countries. Don’t count on India, Russia, or China to join in the destruction of their economies.
I can’t wait to find out what Obama does in his SECOND 100 days.
